Sustainability at Puradies

A good place for everyone

Puradies truly lives up to its name: Nature Resort. We want to make the world a little better as mountain farmers and as hosts. Like the old mountain farmers in the Salzburg region, we think in cycles and only take from Mother Nature what we can give back to her. Our environmental officer is Michael Madreiter. Every two years we update the environmental action programme, which also incorporates the guests' ideas.

This is how we are committed to the environment

  • Electricity 100% from renewable sources
  • Water for the pools is drawn from the hotel's own Embachhof spring
  • Heat from a biomass heating plant in Leogang, with a geothermal heat
  • Heat recovery from cooling and ventilation systems
  • Maintenance schedule for energy and water related equipment
  • Energy efficient bulbs
  • Motion detectors for lighting control in corridors and public areas
  • Individual temperature control in rooms and chalets
  • Organic farm
  • Prevention of waste and food waste
  • Rainwater harvesting for gardening
  • De-icing in winter with sand and gravel instead of chemicals
  • Dosing of detergents and cleaning agents at the lower limit
  • No disposable tableware

...and a lot more. We regularly train ourselves on our sustainability issues and try to keep getting better.

Join us!

We are very happy if you also want to help to protect nature. Turning off the lights and reusing towels is probably second nature to you. At dinner you can choose dishes made from regional ingredients. And you can leave the car behind, take the train to Leogang and enjoy our train station pick-up service.

Green roofs for insects

Build carefully; this guiding principle spurred us on again when expanding the Heaven Spa. The new area nestles into the landscape and traces the natural elevation. The roofs merge with nature: they are green and habitats for plants and insects.

Our organic farm

"It has to be more sustainable," senior manager Sebastian Madreiter believed and was the first farmer in town to convert his farm to organic. Today, cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits and chickens live here happily and in harmony with nature.
